linen sheets Interior Design Inspired by a Cocktail of Colours 6- Tequila Sunrise funny cushion covers

This bright and vibrant cocktail is thought to have been first made at the end of the Prohibition at the Tijuana's famed Agua Caliente casino, resort and racetrack. It's made with tequila (of course!), grenadine and fresh orange juice.

Due to the different 'weight' of the liquids they alcohol sinks to the bottom of the glass while the orange juice is at the top – giving the suggestion of sunrise. These two beautiful colourslinen sheets, red and orange, bring a fresh and vibrant look to the cocktail and can be used in your home to create a warm, vibrant and relaxing ambience. In brief:

For a more traditional look fitted carpets in rich red are ideal as the bottom layer of this cocktail. Add cheap rugs in orange to compliment cushions and throws. Alternatively wooden flooring offers a natural warmth which can also have area rugs to break up any void spaces and will coordinate beautifully with window blinds.

If you want a full-on tequila sunrise then this season's on-trend burnt orange is the perfect colour for walls. Depending on the size of your room you can paint all four walls orange or just use it as the accent colour on one wall. Add different textures by using stipple effect paints or alternatively opt for a feature wall with wallpaper, perhaps the chimney breast wall which will draw the eye to the fireplace.

For a light and airy look voile panels in orange or red will coordinate with the soft furnishings. For a thicker window covering you could use a combination of medium coloured wooden blinds and voile panels, or simply use full length curtains in tonal colours to create a homely atmosphere. By using vertical stripes a ceiling can be made to appear higher, adding additional height to a room can also make it feel more spacious.

Use the colours of sunrise to get the look. Buy curtain fabrics online to make cushions and Roman blinds. Use throws to cover sofas and chairs. As these colours are also reminiscent of Morocco group seating to promote conversation rather than having all your furnishings facing the telly! Wall art can also be useful for breaking up vast areas of orange on walls. Place table lamps in any dark corners, these will also create soft lighting during the evening turning sunrise to sunset with muted tones which are relaxing and gentle on the eye.

Who says interiors have to be immaculate and considered fully decorated to give it the wow factor. Plain ivory or white walls can be given an informal chic style simply by resting a large picture against it – perfect if you don't want to start banging picture hooks into wall plaster which may not be that stable.

Hello there! I am so excited to show you how to make your very own West Elm knock off Bentwood Pendant today! I had been swooning over West Elm's Bentwood Pendant Lights for months, but I just could not bring myself to spend $189 on one for our family room. I had to figure out a way to make one for myself. After A LOT of head scratching, I finally figured it out and LOVE the results.

For many people, textiles are an overwhelming passion. A chair may be an object of sculptural beauty, but a textile holds more tactile appeal. And, with their woven or printed patterns, textiles demand to be considered thoughtfully, as if contemplating a painting for its use of colour or ingenuity of composition. Strangely enough though, textiles and rugs are often wrongly viewed as the poor relations of larger or bulkier household items like furniture or lighting.
